Anthony Tann was born in 1679 in Surry County, Virginia. He was the son of Anthony and his wife  Jefferies, daughter of John Jefferies in Virginia. Anthony and his family are recorded in St. James Charleston, South Carolina Census. The Tann household included:

On June 11, 1860, the Tann family lived in St. James Goose Creek Parish in the Mount Holly postal area. John Tann, 45 years old was a farmer, his wife, Mary 35 years old, Timothy Tann, born in 1852, John Tann, born in 1854 William Tann born in 1856 and Mary Tann born in 1858.

Lawrence Valentine Tann, born about 1848 in Dorchester County, South Carolina, son of John and Mary (SNYDER) Tann.  Lawrence married Elizabeth Perkins Beasley.

  • Ida Selena Tann was born March 28, 1907, in Dorchester County, South Carolina. Ida S. Tann married Isaac Grant and lived in Freeport, Nassau County, New York. They did not have any children.

  • Calvin Edward Tann was born November 24, 1910, in Dorchester County South Carolina. Calvin E. Tann, married Gertrude Smalls. In 1940, Calvin and Gertrude (Smalls) Tann lived on Buffalo Ave in Hempstead, Nassau County, New York with their children; Calvin Tann, Jr (b. 1933), and Helen Tann (b 1935).  The Tann family migrated to Ellenville, Ulster County, New York.

  • Sadie Tann was born in 1912 in Dorchester County, South Carolina. Sadie Tann married Joseph Mackenzie. Their branch is the "Mackey" family of Suffolk County, New York. Joseph and Sadie (Tann) McKenzie's children, Gertrude McKenzie born in 1935, Joseph McKenzie born in 1938, and Robert J. McKenzie born in 1940 in Freeport, Nassau County, New York. Sadie (Tann) McKenzie died in October 1952 and she is buried at Greenfield Cemetery in Uniondale, Nassau County, New York

John Tann

John Tann, born in 1860 in Dorchester County, South Carolina, son of John and Mary (SNYDER) Tann. John married Margaret Ann COLE. (b. about 1862).  At the age of 71, John Tann died on November 11, 1920, in Berkeley County, South Carolina.

" Eldest son of George and Mary Jane (Tann) Loizakes, died of eating much Chocolate. George died of diarrhea. It was the parent's wedding anniversary and Mary Jane was given Chocolate Candle from her husband, George.  George and Despina ate the candle and become ill. George died after eating the candle. He is buried at Bonaventure Cemetery in Savannah, Georgia. The Greek Section. "

Ida Selena Tann

Ida Tann's Wedding

Ida S. Tann, was born on  March 28, 1907, in Summerville, Dorchester County, South Carolina. She is the daughter of Lawrence Valentine Tann and Ella Gibbs. 

​

In 1930, Ida Tann was employed as maid for Harold Peto, a stock broker in Garden City, New York. 

On June 24, 1934 in Hempstead, Nassau County, New York Ida Tann married Isaac Henry Grant.

Issac H. Grant was born on October 25, 1900 In Zion Maryland. He lived in Philadelphia before relocating to Nassau County, New York were he worked for Mrs. George Hewlett in Merrick, New York.

Charlotte Tann

Charlotte Tann was born on August 1, 1799, in Charleston, South Carolina. She was the daughter of Anthony and Margaret (Sweat) Tann who migrated to Indiana. The Tann family were "Shakers". And Charlotte Tann and her sister, Polly Tann were "Shakers". 

Charlotte Tann died on March 15, 1875, and is buried in the Shaker Cemetery in Mercer county, Kentucky.
